The Bull City Golf Club/Youth Foundation Inc., wishes the best of luck to Phillip G. Walton Jr.. Phillip is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Phillip G. Walton. He is currently a Junior in the Magnet Program for High Achievers at the famed Southwest Dekalb High School in Decatur, Georgia. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and Who's Who Among Outstanding American High School Students at Southwest Dekalb. Phillip has also received notification of his eligibility as a National Merit Scholarship finalist.
He has successfully competed in the Georgia State Science Fair at the University of Georgia in the 9th and 10th grades where he won 3rd and 1st place respectively in the Microbiology Division. In the Summer of 1999, he was selected to participate in the Howard Hughes Biomedical Summer Science program at Spelman College. His was voted the "Most Likely To Succeed" by his peers.
Phillip has successfully demonstrated his leadership abilities by actively participating in B.O.L.D.(Brothers Of Leadership and Distinction). The goal of this organization is to develop members into productive, service-orientated leaders. He is also very active in his community as a mentor and tutor for elementary school students and a consistent volunteer in feeding the homeless. He is a member of the Youth Choir at Berean Church in Lithonia, Georgia.
He has a sincere passion for golf. Sporting a single digit handicap, he has been a member of the Southwest Dekalb High School Golf Team for the past two(2) years and currently holds the position of President. Phillip also doubles as a part-time employee at Sugar Creek Golf Course and Caddy Trainee at East Lake Golf Club.
Phillip has maintained a 3.8 cumulative grade point average(GPA) on a 4.0 scale while attending Southwest Dekalb High School. He plans to enter college in the Fall of 2001 to pursue a degree in Biology/Pre-Medicine. His career goals are to become a Pediatric Neurosurgeon and a Professional Golfer.
